The moon rise time today in India
is special because it is Karwa
Chauth ,
which is when married women fast
all day for the health and
wellbeing of their husbands and
can only break their fast after the
moon rises .
They must start their fast at night
just after the moon rises and
within sight of their husbands –
they cannot break their fast until
the
next night’s moon. They then dress
in
their best clothing and wear
jewellery
and henna and offer prayers and
worship to the moon.
